VMWARE HORIZON CLIENT Desktop Anywhere relies on VMware Horizon technology to provide end users access to all of their virtual desktops, applications, and online services through a single digital workspace. Users will have to download and install the VMware Horizon View Client to access the resources of Desktop Anywhere. Horizon Client 4.7 (Windows, Mac or Linux), HTML Access 4.7 Maximum of five collaborators by default (can be increased) Horizon Agent 7.4 for virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and RDSH. Installing the VMware Horizon Client to log in to VDI on a Mac computer. Go to JMU’s software downloads page and click Mac under the VMware Horizon Client option; Sign in with your eID and password. Save the file if prompted. After the download is complete, double-click the VMware-Horizondmg file in your Downloads folder. If you plan to use the RDP display protocol to connect to a remote desktop, verify that the Mac client system has Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac from Microsoft, version 2.0 or later installed. Verify that you have the URL for a download page that contains the Horizon Client installer. Client Side Configuration 1 Add the client to the domain. Note: Ensure that the client and SCCM server are in the same Domain. 2 Login as a Domain Admin user. 3 Change Time zone to SCCM server time zone. 4 Go to Control Panel, and click Configuration Manager. 5 Click the Site Tab, and click Configure Setting button. 6 Click Find Site button.

You install Horizon Client on Mac client systems from a disk image file.
- Verify that the client system uses a supported operating system. See System Requirements for Mac Clients.
- Verify that you can log in as an administrator on the client system.
- Verify that you have the URL for a download page that contains the Horizon Client installer. This URL might be the VMware Downloads page at http://www.vmware.com/go/viewclients, or it might be the URL for a Connection Server instance.

Procedure
- On the Mac client system, browse to the URL for downloading the Horizon Client installer file. The filename format is VMware-Horizon-Client-y.y.y-xxxxxx.dmg, where xxxxxx is the build number and y.y.y is the version number.
- Double-click the .dmg file and click Agree. The contents of the disk image appear in a Horizon Client Finder window.
- In the Finder window, drag the VMware Horizon Client icon to the Applications folder icon. If you are not logged in as an administrator user, the Mac client system prompts you for an administrator user name and password.
Start Horizon Client and verify that you can connect to a remote desktop or published application. See Connect to a Remote Desktop or Published Application.

If you have not set up a form of Multi-Factor authentication, you will need to do so before completing these steps. See go.uvm.edu/mfamethods for options for setting up Duo Multi-Factor authentication.

- Navigate to desktop.uvm.edu in a browser (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.)
- Click on the VMware Horizon HTML Access icon:
- Log in with NetID/Password when prompted.
- In the Next Code box enter either the number of the MFA option you would like to use, or an existing code generated with Duo Mobile, sent via SMS, or generated by your hardware token in the Next Code/Tokencode field.
- Once authenticated, click on the VDI pool you wish to connect to.
Desktop Client
- Navigate to desktop.uvm.edu in a browser (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.)
- Click on the Install VMware Horizon Client icon. This will take you to the VMWare download site.
- Select Go to Downloads for VMware Horizon Client for Windows.
- This will take you to another VMware page where you can download the program. Click on the Download button.
- Run the downloaded file. This will bring up the setup wizard.
- Follow any steps required to complete installation (this may require a restart of your computer.)
- Navigate to desktop.uvm.edu in a browser (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.)
- Click on the Install VMware Horizon Client icon.
This will take you to the VMWare download site. - Select Go to Downloads for VMware Horizon Client for Mac.
- This will take you to another VMware page where you can download the program. Click on the Download button.
- Open the downloaded file. This will open a new window where you will need to drag the VMware Horizon Client into the Applications folder.
VMware Horizon Client should now be ready to run from your Applications folder.

- Open VMware Horizon Client. If no servers appear, Click New Server or double-click Add Server.Otherwise double click the existing server (should be desktop.uvm.edu) and continue to step 3.
- After clicking New Server a new dialogue box should pop up. Enter desktop.uvm.edu for the Connection Server, then click Connect.
- Enter your NetID and password. Click Login once you have done so.
- You will now be prompted to authenticate using Duo Multi-Factor Authentication.
In the Next Code box, enter either the number of the MFA option you would like to use, or an existing code, then press Login. - After successfully signing in, double-click which ever Virtual Desktop group you were looking for. (In the below example, CEMS Virtual Votey is the only one this user has access to).
